The Broker’s Briefing ·

Naples Shuts, Gulf Flyers Turn to Charter

A weekend of practical news for anyone flying privately to southern Italy, and fresh signs that buyers and operators are reshaping the charter market.

Naples Capodichino is closed to all air traffic for November.

Airport operator GESAC says Naples will stay closed for the whole of November while the runway, taxiways and lighting are rebuilt, a €30 million project worked around the clock. Part of the traffic moves to Salerno Costa d’Amalfi, which will serve 15 destinations during the month. Both Salerno terminals will be in use, and the recently opened general aviation terminal is being used for some non-Schengen commercial flights.

Gulf airline disruption is bringing first-time flyers to charter.

Elysium Jet, a broker with offices in Dubai and New York, says travellers who normally fly business or first class have been chartering after their airline flights from the Gulf were cancelled. It cites FlightAware data showing 1,692 delays and 131 cancellations across the region on 7 October alone. Most of its missions to Europe used heavy jets such as the Challenger 605 or Gulfstream G-IV SP, and it estimates a roughly seven-hour Gulf to Western Europe flight at $70,000 to $110,000, or about $6,000 to $9,000 per person with a full cabin.

Swiss broker Simply Jet buys Austrian operator FlyTyrol.

Simply Jet has acquired FlyTyrol, including its Austro Control air operator certificate, in a deal that closed in early September; terms were not disclosed. FlyTyrol keeps its name and 14 staff, and operates four Citations from Innsbruck and Salzburg: an M2 and a CJ3+ for charter, and a CJ2+ and an XLS under private management. Simply Jet aims to manage ten aircraft by 2030.

STA Jets adds a 17-aircraft Denver operator.

California-based management and charter company STA Jets has acquired International Jet, founded in 1979, which operates 17 aircraft from turboprops to large-cabin jets from its own terminal at Denver Centennial Airport. Separately, financial technology company Goodwin has bought aviation software platform STACK.aero, which keeps its brand, founder and team.

flyExclusive partners with FGI Yacht Group.

US private aviation company flyExclusive, which offers charter, a jet club and fractional ownership, has formed a partnership with yacht brokerage FGI Yacht Group. Each company’s clients get direct access to the other’s services, including flights to and from yachts, cruising grounds and boat shows. The partnership is being introduced at the 2026 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.
